PEER MEDIATION
Specific students have gone through a training course to become “peer mediators”. Their job is to help other students to sort out their problems.

PEER SUPPORT
Some of our students will undertake peer support and leadership training at the end of this year. They will be there to support and lead younger students.

THE AGE OF THE INTERNET
Over the year, we have developed our computer area and all students now have access to the World Wide Web. The College now has one of the best student to computer ratios not only in the Region but in the State: 2.6 to 1 Ninety percent of the staff have laptops.Fast speed Internet access is initially free for all students. A new rollout of computers is due for the Library and a computer lab.

SKI AND SAIL CAMPS
We introduced skiing for all our students. Year 7’s and VCE students had great times at the snow and Year 8’s to 10’s had a four day camp. We expect to see some expert skiers in the future. The college also owns 6 sailing boats that are used in an exciting sailing program launched back in February 2002. The college has mooring rights with the Royal Melbourne Yacht Club.

TENNIS ANYONE?
The mod grass tennis courts are almost complete. Added to our plexipave basketball courts and our gym and exercisearea, we have excellent facilities for our budding sports stars.

BIKING ANYONE?
The College has invested in over 30 brand new bikes for our cycling program. Students are taught all aspects of bike safety.

KEALBA'S ACHIEVERS
Last year we celebrated the achievements of our students by presenting “Kealba Achievement Awards” at General Assemblies and Presentation Night. Many students received awards for academic achievement, sporting achievement, excellence in music, citizenship awards and contribution to the community. We should be proud of the many talented and committed young people at Kealba.

VOCATIONAL EDUCATION & TRAINING

Kealba has become a leader in the provision of comprehensive courses enabling students to achieve VCE, VET, VCAL and TAFE certification. In 2006, we will have a large number of our senio1 students involved in these courses. The College will provide an extensive work placement program with students being able to access work place training in a wide variety of industries and workplaces.

VCE RESULTS
90% of 2005 Year 12 students passed their VCE. 61% went to University        20% went to TAFE and the other students went to be employed. None  of our “class of ‘2005" were unemployed.

THANK YOU...
I would like to thank all the teachers, office staff, support staff, parents and students who have worked together this year to make Kealba a happy school and one which can be proud of its traditions and achievements. An ex student visiting from University complained, “People are always asking me which school I went to and when I say Kealba they don’t know where it is - then I am proud to tell them”. My wish is that we can all say that we are proud of our school.
